U.S. Presidents’ Homes
Storm windows for historical preservation projects can be some of the most challenging. The combination of unobtrusive appearance that will not detract from structural elements, and the need for product performance, create challenges that can only be overcome through a custom solution. At Allied Window, we have applied our expertise in storm window design, fabrication, and installation to a wide range of historical sites. As an industry leader and the most capable storm window company in the market today, countless customers have relied on our expertise to provide innovative solutions that deliver unbeatable value, UV reduction, and energy savings.
We have been privileged to provide Custom Storm Windows for many U.S. President’s Homes, and a number of Governor’s Mansions.
The project highlighted here is the home of former President Rutherford Hayes and is one of many presidential homes for which we have provided our services. Through many successful installations in various applications, we have gained a reputation as a go-to source for many architectural firms who work on historical preservation.
In this project, the curator of the house needed interior storm windows that would provide energy savings and protect the historical artifacts within the house from harmful UV rays. Our solution came in the form of a low profile interior storm window that was virtually invisible when installed.
Magnetically fastened to the window, it utilized a custom manufactured wood and extruded aluminum frame and was fitted with special glazed laminated glass. In addition to the low profile features, we also applied custom colors to allow the windows to blend in seamlessly with the surrounding structure. This was an involved project that took several years to complete. During this time many iterations of materials and design characteristics were considered. Although challenging, it highlights our commitment to providing our customers with superior customer service and products that have made us a leader in the custom window industry.
