Insect Screens
Allied Window’s screens are of exceptionally high quality and strength of construction. All frames are of extruded aluminum, with heavy solid extruded corner keys. Very large screens can be provided, without the need for a brace bar. A complete variety of screen wire materials is available, including charcoal aluminum (which is the standard wire), black aluminum, bright aluminum, bronze, stainless steel, and charcoal fiberglass wire. Fiberglass and aluminum “sunshade” materials are also an option. Springs, handles, spring-bolts, tracks, and other hardware are available to adapt to field conditions. Screen wire is held in place by a large diameter re-usable tubular vinyl spline. Spline color choices are white, off-white, black, beige, light gray and medium gray. Custom shapes and custom colors are popular screen options.
Primary Uses: The standard screen for all of our storm window products is an S-102 screen, with stainless steel handles. For existing wood or steel double-hungs, typical units are; lift out screens, sliding screens, and full screens. For steel or aluminum casement windows; clip-on, sliding or wicket screens are normally used. Some interior or exterior screens for steel or aluminum windows may require an angle build-out frame. Plain screen panels are ideal for large un-divided areas such as screened porches.
Special Steel Casement “Narrow Line Screens”: The “Narrow LIne Screens” were developed primarily for Crittall and Hopes steel casement windows. The frames (S-121) are only 1/2″ wide — which allows for magnetic application. They are available in a full range of designs — such as plain, hinged, sliding wicket, hinged wicket, box screens, and build-out screens. These screens are custom-designed to meet the needs of each project. Typical designs are shown below, starting with I-21 product details.
S-102 Frame (3/8″ x 1 1/16″)
The S-102 screen is the core component of almost every style screen which Allied Window manufactures.
S-101 Frame (5/16″ x 1 1/16″)
The S-101 screen has the same basic construction as the S-102 screen, but is only 5/16” thick. This makes the S-101 screen a high quality replacement screen for the flimsy screens originally provided with aluminum windows for homes and apartments.
1/2-Screen (S-102)-Drop In
The drop-in screen is an exterior screen for wood double-hungs. “Deep guide” side channel tracks are provided for the screen to drop into. The screen has lift handles for seasonal removal, if desired.
1/2-Screen (S-102)-Vertical Sliding
The 1/2-sliding screen has full height “deep” and “shallow” screen guides for a spring-loaded screen to travel in. The screen has lift handles. The side springs permit seasonal removal, if desired
1/2-Screen (S-102)-Horizintal Sliding (SAW)
These plain screens interchange with the sliding glass panels in a Slide-A-Way (SAW) unit.
Full Screen (S-102)
A full screen covers the entire exterior area of various styles of wood windows. There are many methods to secure the screen in place, and allow for easy removal, – depending on the nature of the existing window and field conditions.
Wicket Screens (S-102)
Wicket screens have hinged or sliding screen panels that provide access to the locking handles for steel or aluminum casement or projected-style windows.
Basket Screens (S-102)
These exterior screen units provide full coverage for factory-type steel windows which project out or pivot out. The unit is an assembly of top, bottom and side screens.
Build-Out Screens (S-102)
Plain screens or wicket screens often require the application of an aluminum angle build-out frame to provide clearance for window hardware or normal operation.
Magnetic Screens (S-102)
Plain or wicket screens (interior only) can be secured in place to steel windows by the use of magnetic tape on all (4) sides. Screens with magnetic tape on the jambs only can be interchanged with glass panels in the Magnetic One Lite (MOL) series.
S-121 Frame (3/8″ x 1/2″) (Narrow Line)
The S-121 screen is the basic frame for all of the interior magnetic screens.
Wicket Screens (S-121) (Narrow Line)
Wicket screens have sliding or hinged screen panels that provide access to the locking handles for steel casement or projected-style windows.
Build-Out Screens (S-121) (Narrow LIne)
Plain screens or wicket screens often require the application of an aluminum angle build-out frame to provide clearance for window hardware or normal operation.
PVC Build-Out for S-121 Wicket Screens (Narrow Line)
This build-out permits the closure of a sliding wicket when a “Berkley” handle is locked in the “most” open position.
